About This Course

This course is meant for those faculty who are interested in exploring the field of autonomic nervous sciences. The expected participants are those who are currently working with AND Function Testing or those who are interested in starting a ANS Test lab in their respective institutions. This course has two parts - an online theory component and a hands-on practical component.

The theory component will be conducted online through live lectures and will cover the areas of Anatomy of Autonomic Functions, Physiology of Sympathetic System and Parasympathetic System, Biochemical, Histochemical, immunohistochemical and molecular methods to evaluate autonomic nervous system, Pathophysiology and ANS dysfunction- Pure Autonomic Failure, syncope, POTS, Autoimmune autonomic disorders, peripheral neuropathies, Autoimmune autonomic disorders. Principles and assessment of BRS, HRV, BPV, ANS Assessment Panel - Tests, Analysis and Reporting, Pharmacologic assessment of ANS, Principles of Treatment of ANS involvement - Pharmacological, non-pharmacological, Latest Updates in the Management of Autonomic Dysfunction.

The practical hands-on component will be conducted in person at the Department of Physiology, St.John's Medical College, Bangalore and will cover Demonstration, self assessment and reporting of BRS, BPV, HRV, Sudomotor tests. Demonstration of Histochemical and immunohistochemical  methods for ANS Evaluation. ANS Panel - Demonstration, Practice and Certification.

Requirements

Participants with MBBS/MD/MS/PhD/MSc (life sciences) who are currently working or interested in working in the area of the autonomic nervous system.
